Startled as Rayne was jolted out of her seat by the hiss of the train as it
expelled steam from the trip rayne's head spun before her. She must have dozed
off, in the middle of the day no less, odd for her, and didn't realize she had
arrived. Her compartment had remained empty apparently throughout the whole ride
and she was now left to herself as she watched hordes of students pour out of
the open compartment doors. Mumbling a locking spell Rayne quickly disrobed and
changed into her school uniform, grabbing her immediate stuff and hurried out
the door as she was one of the last to leave the spewing train.
All around her she saw groups of people disband according to colours, almost
like a rainbow of four colours splayed out before her and she shook her head
slightly. The magical world may have overcome racial discriminations ages before
the muggles did, but they certainly made up for it in differnet ways.
A sharp spark of green caught her eye for a moment amongst the throngs of red
and gold clad students- apparently she was not the only one to notice as people
pointed, stared and whispered. Rayne's eyebrows rose almost imperceptably but
she did not give any hint towards what she was thinking beyond that. Perhaps an
understanding twitch of a tip in their direction but just as she was considering
the situation the girl was in a smaller boy in a younger grade pushed passed
her, his blonde hair mirroring the silver sheen of the early moon. Even in his
youth he was already taller than Rayne and he opened his mouth to snarl an
insult her way before he looked at her face and quickly shut his mouth lowering
his head and shuffling away. Meanwhile a small group of students not far off
were pointing and whispering behind their hands while looking at the blonde boys
back. With her sharp hearing Rayne had no trouble hearing their words.
" doya think..... his father?" A small boy piped as another girls eyes
grew wide.
" nah.. i reckon the mark WAS put there by the house elf...." Another
answered, more skeptical. mark... what mark.... it couldnt possibly
be....
Rayne Der Drache finished the remainder of her breakfast in a sullen silence as
the old house elf wrung her hands and fritted around in apparent anxiety over
her comming "vacation". Undable to stand the figeting anymore Rayne
dropped her fork back onto her plate, somewhat harshly and exhaled through
gritted teeth.
"will you cease that infernal flitting?!" She grumbled more darkly
then perhaps she ment to, starlting the ancient creature who was not fighting to
bat away tears, her ears dropping nearly to the ground. " Sorry...."
Rayne mumbled as she rose from her seated position to go by the heavily drapped
windows. " It's just.... i can feel it..... this dark... darkness... it's
so overwhelming." She whispered through barely parted lips.
" Is.. is it getting worse?" The old elf asked quietly, her tone thick
with despare.
" yes... it's getting harder and harder to resist the call, the more
powerful it becomes. I'm afraid they won't wait much longer..... they know i am
of age now....." Rayne trailed off closing her eyes to the dim light
radiating from the edges of the curtain, even that small light made everything
in the room almost blindingly bright to Rayne. Dumbldore was the only one who
knew and he promised to protect her... until she became of age. Which was
today.
Shaking her head she turned back to the distraught elf and ordered her to
retrive some clothes. She couldn't simple hide and wallow in this castle
forever.... well, not that it would hold for long anyway she thought rather
grimly as an after echo.
By this time her clothes had arrived and without bothering to do things the
mortal way she wipped her wand in a sharp weaving pattern watching, bordom
etched across her face, as her nightclothes dematerialized back into her closet
to be replaced by her favorite black silk shirt which skimed her arms all the
way down to her wrists as it drapped off her shoulders, dipping low on her back.
Seconds later her leather pants zoomed on, accompanied by the wide silver belt
she always wore with the large buckle ont he side.
Gliding out of her room into the rest of the morbidly dark house Rayne slid into
the bathroom soundlessly as she observed herself in the mirror, twisting her
hair up into a bun which allowed for a few stray tendrils of silken hair to
escape and curl down her back and frame her face. Conuring her boots to her she
slipped on the slightly heeled apendeges and rushed down the long stairwell into
the foyer where she grabbed her midnight satin cloak and a pinch of green dust
remembering her purse before she cast the particles into the enormous fireplace
she always kept roaring and directed herself to diagon alley.
Once she stepped out of the portal on the other side she immediately crossed her
eyes with her hand in a long sweeping motion muttering inaudible words as an
invisible film covered her sensitive irises.
Her morning shopping went effortlessly and without a hitch as she sidled from
store to store, weaving in and out as quickly as possible. She had a seat at the
quidditch world cup- not an event even she would want to miss- so the faster she
did this the better.
Finally finished with everything she supponed Pixie to her side and ordered her
to take everything back to the house and prepare it for her departure while she
took a look at one last thing. It was an interesting artifact- not from one of
the most "reputable" shops in Diagon Alley, but it would have to
do.
Slipping unnoticed into the darker half of this world much as she was used to
doing every day in life, Rayne stepped into the run down shop and strode to the
counter. " Tell me.... where is the artifact i requested?" She snapped
gruffly.
" Ahh.... the pendant of Orisai?" That is a pricey egyptian
relic....." The shady clerk leered through his siniser grin at her. She
could feel his eyes moving up and down her body as he did so.
Unfazed she continued to give him a bored stare until he finally thre his hands
up and brought out an ordinately carved silver box. Rayne leaned closer over the
counter as he carefully opened the box to reveal a laughing saphire that
twinkled at her from it's pristien prison. Eyes widening Rayne began to reach
out and would have touched the relic if the clerk hadn't slammed the box shut
and pulled it out of her grasp, breaking her trance.
" Why are you so interested in controlling vampires anyway?' He bothered to
ask, somewhat annoyed by her actions.
" That is none of-" Rayne began to snap back before she sensed
movement in the room and caught the edge of a shadow move against the far wall
at an imperceptible speed. Gasping she launched herself against the door but not
before the shadow lept after her, enveloping her in it's suffocating density
until she couldn't breath and wisk her away to leave the clerk blinking and
confused still behind the counter, as the atack had lastedfor less time then it
would take the wizard to even register movement- by the time he saw the shock on
the girls face she was already gone.
Hours later Rayne woke up to find herself in a marble cell, lined with magic and
a number of other things. So they had finally come....
No one came to her all day and by the next day she was getting restless and
tired, this cell was ment to sap the enegry of the prisoner and she was
certainly feeling it's effects. That's when two heavily armed guardes came for
her. There men were werewolves, she could tell from just one look at their over
burly appearances, bulging muscles and unkept manes. Their eyes shone a vibrant
yellow in the dimness of the dungeon.
Grunting and ushering her out they lead her weak frame upstairs to a masked man
seated in a throne before the hearth. " well well..... Miss Der
Drache...... a pleasure to finally have you...." The man laughed deeply,
the harsh sound reverbarating from the walls in the giant hall back to her
tenfold as he grinned to the moonlight, exposing glistening pearly fangs to the
crescent moon. Rising he literally hovered to her across the floor with a
certain measure of elegence unreproducable by humans or animals alike, to grab
her chin and raise her glittering violet eyes to meet his bright red ones.
" Have you considered the offer, my dear? Oh but wait...." He mocked.
" I am forgetting my manners.... a drink for the lady?" The vampire
released her as a crystal goblet was brought, a thick crimson substence swishing
congealed within it. Trying to be replused Rayne pulled back but as soon as she
caught the aroma wifting from the goblet she suddenly felt herself pulled to the
swirling liquid.... closr and closer.... until..... it was nearly at her lips,
how sweet it would taste. But no, she pulled back sharply, knocking the goblet
to the floor in one swift motion as she darted back into the shadows to be
greeted by a fresh corus of scoffs.
" No?" The coven leader guessed as he waved his hand over the spill as
it reformed into the now whole goblet. Passing it off to one of his guards he
beconed Rayne to him and she felt the invisible strings of his pull wrap around
her arms and legs and pull her right to him. What he didn't realize was that she
had been fingering her wand from her back pocket this whole time, waiting to get
close enough.
" I'll NEVER be with you!" She hissed in his face as her eyes flashed
an angry indigo and she aimed the spell, not looking to see if it hit before she
darted towards the door using her supirior vision to anticipate the clumsy
movements of the werewolves and dart beantha, over, and around them.
She could feel a howl of outrage building like a mighty storm but did not falter
as the icy cold shrieks filled the night air. Flinging her wand before her she
ran straight for a window and shattered it before plummeting out herself.
It was several stories up, the trees a blanket of green before her but her fall
was slowed and her body took to the tops of the trees gracefully falling instep
with her nocturnal nature. By the time she had been running for a few minutes
her supernatural strength waned, having been used out of adrenaline and she
plummeted roughly to the ground, her body unable to sustain that kind of power
without the needed nourishment. Groaning she could see her body was covered in
many little cuts, some of which had already begun to seal themselves up and she
called enough strength to summon Pixie to her, before falling into dark
oblivion.
Some time later she awoke to a familiar scent feeling hungry but alive. Opening
her eyes fully she found her old elf comming back into focus, her old room
before her. Behind the elf a taller figure stood smiling sadly down at her as
the sun glinted off his half moon spectacles. " Dum....ble.... Rayne began
sitting up as he put his hand on her shoulder to ease her back down. " What
happened?" She demaned looking from her elf to the headmaster and back.
" Relax child.... Pixie found you when you summoned her..... in Romania.
She called me here. This is a most sever incident!" The headmaster
reprimended her, his eyes asking the unspoken question of why she hadn't come to
him sooner.
" You only were promised to protect me until i became of age.... i can take
care of myself now." Rayne confidently stated looking him square in the
eye.
" I think not. So long as you are in Hogwarts you will remain under my
protection." Dumbledore countered. His tone was final. " I will take
care of this matter, you have studies to attend to and i suggest you hurry up..
your packages and trunk are already on the train but you should be there with
them- dont you think?" He gave her that familiar warm smile, humour
flashing momentarily in his eyes as it overlapped his grave gaze.
Nodding Rayne went about preparing herself and disapparated within a few moments
directly onto Platform 9 and 3/4, just in time to hope into the last compartment
as the train began gathering speed.
Exhaling deeply she slid down a wall, looking around at the empty rooms.
Choosing the nearest one she ambled into the seat closest to the window,
forgetting to close the compartment door behind her as Rayne leaned her head
against the cool glass (which felt warm against her skin) and began to think
about her final year at Hogwatrs and what it would be like.

I suppose i'll make a long yet abbreviated post of what my character has been up
to in this time, and to keep it simple i'll just have her not at the quidditch
world cup.
well.... sugar is vegetarian lol. So i suppose logic would dictate vegetarians
can live off cake :p and therefore will get fat. It's a little harder for vegans
though lol.
Whoooot yea baby :P. Damn straight you've known me for long enough lmao. (he's
one of those poor unfortunate souls who have to deal with my quirky personality
on a near daily basis)
Though you'll need to update your drug cabinet with some stress reducers MUAHAHA
Everyone i know who got engaged and married too young regretted it later.... but
i think it all depends on how long you two have been together. Things can be
perfect one moment and go SHARPLY downhill for no apparent reason in a short
matter of time.
yea no kidding about the adrenaline lol. Soul's not the only one who doesn't
liek your unsafe driving . Then again
i have no right to speak about safe and unsafe things.
uhhh well DUH.. ahaha how am i supposed to win betting on you if you have a
slower car? lmao anyway i perfer to gamble my life in other ways then on the
road thnx
huh- thats nice , well i wouldn't race you :P. you'd win lmao... or maybe i WOULD
race you.... place a bet that YOU'D win.... then loose (naturally) and get some
money anyway! yea! lol.
ooc:..... i hope this isn't about machines attacking or andriods, or.... anything..... that would not fit here.
(ooc: wow, amazing pieces of work everyone! So detailed and awsome!)
